Week One is Done!

Hi parents,

We worked hard in the first week to establish rituals and routines in our classroom and in Reading.  Your student learned 3 ways to choose a Just Right Book for them to read independently!

Way 1:  The Five Finger Rule                                         Way 2:  The Goldilocks Method

Also, your child got to choose a READBOX book last week.  These are books that have been READ before, and need to be READ again!  They are free for rental anytime, and can be added to their Principal's Reading LOG each time they are completed, brought back, and another one can be rented!

PLEASE, initial your child's planner and RAH Log nightly (only if they actually read) and help your student build healthy reading habits.

THIS WEEK, we begin our first SKILLS set.  It includes Spelling Words, Vocabulary, and Grammar Skills.  One skills Homework sheet will be sent home weekly and should be returned within 2 days.  Skills Tests will be given every 2 weeks and the Skills introduction (PINK SHEET) should be housed at all times in the clear pouch in the front of the planner.  Students can use it for Homework, of course, but should be returned.  IT IS THEIR STUDY GUIDE FOR SKILLS TESTS!!!
